Pro-poor, Gender and Environment-Sensitive Budgets

You are cordially invited to attend a workshop on "Pro-poor, Gender
and Environment-Sensitive Budgets" to be held in New York 28-30 June,
1999.  The workshop, organized by UNDP's Bureau for Development Policy
in partnership with UNIFEM, aims to explore the question of how
national and local budgets can be formulated toward the reduction of
poverty, gender inequality and environmental degradation.  The
workshop will examine and share the experiences of various budget
initiatives including those in South Africa, Barbados, Bangladesh,
Zimbabwe, Brazil and Canada.  Workshop participants will consist of an
international group of experts and practitioners from governments,
civil society organizations, UN agencies and other development
partners.
