本日、2月25日日本時間朝4時ごろ、 
 
IFC・イラク自由会議執行委員のジャッバル・アルアサディさんが 
 
イラク政府の治安部隊によって逮捕されました。 
 
今日25日の「百万人デモ」参加を呼びかけるIFC声明を配布していたことに対

する報復です。 
 
ジャッバルさんは、イラク平和テレビ局インジャパンの昨年7月24日配信番組

で紹介されているバグダッドのボディービル・ジムの所長でＩＦＣイラク自

由会議の執行委員のバグダッドの若者担当として、

若者と共にスポーツを通じて人間らしい社会の再建をめざしています。

「若者こそがイラクの未来である」と熱い期待を語ってくれています。

捕に続くIFCメンバーの逮捕です。 
 
しかも、昨日2/24イラク平和テレビ局インジャパンのスタッフ、ＺＥＮＫＯ

などで東京のイラク大使館に抗議要請した直後のことです。 
 
みなさんからの抗議と釈放要求を集中おねがいします。

His Excellency Mr. Lukman FAILY, Ambassador of Iraq to Japan, 
 
I have learnt that the Iraqi security authority arrested Mr. Jabbar 
al-Asadi, member of the Iraq Freedom Congress Executive Office, at ten 
o'clock February 24 evening in Baghdad's Shaab district. The arrest 
reportedly came after he, along with others, distributed IFC statement 
papers calling for participation to the demonstration slated for February 
25. 
 
This is a serious violation of basic human rights, particularly of freedom 
of expression. Taking into consideration that there was another arrest of 
Mr. Mahmood Khalis, a young IFC leader in Tikrit, on February 22, and IFC's 
Sana TV headquarters in Baghdad were raided by the police with all 
equipments confiscated at 2:30 am on February 23, I am deeply concerned that 
democracy in Iraq would be gravely undermined if these improper behaviors by 
government agencies were not duly corrected. 
 
I sincerely request you to take all the necessary measures to release 
Messrs. Jabbar al-Asadi and Mahmood Khalis, return all the equipments to 
Sana TV, give apology and compensation to them, and punish those responsible 
for the acts, including sending your report about this letter to your home 
government.
