Pardo, SUTP Project coordinator, took part in the 5th International Bus Conference organised by UITP in Bogotá. He also gave a presentation on the Marketing and Public awareness aspects of Bus Rapid Transit. <a moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://www.sutp.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=263&Itemid=40&lang=en">http://www.sutp.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=263&Itemid=40&lang=en</a> GTZ participates in UNITAR workshop Mr. Armin Wagner from GTZ Transport division has participated as a speaker in a workshop organised by United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in Tallinn, Estonia from Feb 21-23.<u1:p></u1:p> Mr. Wagner, from GTZ Transport Policy Advisory Service presented on the topic "The Role of Political Will in Sustainable Urban Transport" and "Public Awareness on Sustainable Urban Transport". Presentations shall be available shortly. <u1:p></u1:p> <a moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://www.sutp.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=261&Itemid=1">http://www.sutp.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=261&Itemid=1</a> <u1:p></u1:p> Second training course in China- April 2007 <u1:p></u1:p> GTZ, along with Southeast University and Tsinghua University, and supported by the Chinese Ministry of Construction, and the Construction Bureau of Jiangsu Province, will be delivering the second training course on Sustainable Urban Transport (green transport) for Chinese cities in Nanjing during 3 days, from April 16-18, 2007. This course will take up the more recent discussions in China about future urban development and its relation to urban transport development in particular, and will highlight the international discussion on sustainable urban transport development. <u1:p></u1:p> <a moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://www.sutp.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=215&Itemid=1">http://www.sutp.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=215&Itemid=1</a> <u1:p></u1:p> GTZ Sourcebook in Chinese now available online <u1:p></u1:p> The Chinese version of the GTZ Sustainable Transport Sourcebook for Policy-makers in Developing Cities is now available online. 22 modules of the Sourcebook have been translated into Chinese and can now be downloaded from our resources section (registered users). The CD contains photos from various regions around the world taken by experts in the field, depicting urban transport scenarios in each region. The DVD is available upon request to institutions interested in promoting sustainable transport. <u1:p></u1:p> <a moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://www.sutp.org/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=51&lang=en">http://www.sutp.org/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=51&lang=en</a> <u1:p></u1:p> GTZ participation in BAQ 2006 <u1:p></u1:p> Apart from giving training courses as pre-events for the BAQ, 2006 conference SUTP has also actively participated in the Better Air Quality (BAQ) 2006 workshop during December 13-15, 2006. Manfred Breithaupt, Senior Advisor for Transport at GTZ and also the Project Director of the SUTP chaired a session on the topic “Financing of Sustainable Urban Transport”. Carlos F. Pardo, Project Coordinator for SUTP delivered a presentation on “Impact Assessment of BRT Schemes”. The session was chaired by Dinesh Mohan, Professor and Coordinator, TRIPP, Indian Institute of Delhi. <u1:p></u1:p> <a moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://www.sutp.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=179&Itemid=40&lang=en">http://www.sutp.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=179&Itemid=40&lang=en</a> <u1:p></u1:p> GTZ-participation in the Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) forum Manfred Breithaupt, Senior Advisor of GTZ, participated in the EST forum held as a pre-event for the Better Air Quality (BAQ) Conference as one of the Expert Members of the Subsidiary Expert Group of the regional EST Forum , 2006 at Yogyakarta, Indonesia during December 11-12, 2006. The course was given by Carlos F. More than 30 participants attended this course. Dr. Walter Hook and Carlos F. The training was conducted by Mr. Ulises Navarro, and had inputs from Mr. Heru Sutomo (PUSTRAL) and Mr. Carlos F.
