Clear hurdles in BRTS path: Civic chief


Vijayawada: Municipal Commissioner G Ravi Babu asked the officials to take
steps to remove any constructions that block the development work for
constructing the corridor under Bus Rapid Transist System scheme in
Gunadala.

The Commissioner visited the Besant Road, Lenin Centre, Durgapuram,
Gunadala and Padavalarevu here on Wednesday. He asked the officials to
remove the constructions that block the development work at the Ansari Park
on Besant Road.

He also asked them to take steps for the development of the junction and to
remove the electric poles on the road. He instructed the officials to take
steps to develop the Lenin Centre junction and to remove the trees that
block the development work. He also asked them to take steps for arranging
high mast lights and water fountain at the junction.

He inspected the road extension work at Durgapuram and asked the officials
to complete the construction work at the earliest for the convenience of
the people. He then inspected the corridor work from Gunadala to
Ramavarappadu streamlining BRTS Road and asked the officials to remove the
constructions that block the development work and traffic.

He asked them to take steps for constructing bus shelters and bus bays in
the area. The BRTS officials were asked to remove the dividers temporarily
until the development work in the area was completed.

The Commissioner inspected the ESI Hospital Road of Gunadala and asked the
officials to take steps for maintaining cleanliness in the area and to
remove the building material on the road that hinder the movement of the
traffic. He then inspected the major outfall drain construction work at
Loyola College Road.

Responding to the request of the college management about the entry of
drain water into the college through the temporary drain, he asked the
officials to construct another temporary drain streamlining the present
drain to eradicate the problem. He asked the Town Planning officials to
take steps for main road development work at Gayathri Nagar.

Executive engineer JV Rama Krishna, chief medical officer Dr Satyanarayana
Raju, assistant city planner Suvarna Raju, Traffic Police and other
officials were present with the Commissioner during his visit.
