This is with reference to Kaarina Sarac's email re incease
in property values as a result to upgradation of public
transport systems.

One of the projects that was proposed to be built in Bombay
is a Mainland Link Bridge, which is estimated to cost about
Rs. 65,000 million (road only) and Rs. 95,000 million (road
and rail). (1 US $ = Rs. 45).

The developer has proposed that a land cess be collected
from the land owners on the mainland since their property
values are bound to increase if this bridge is constructed.

Fortunately, the bridge has not been approved; and
hopefully, it will never be constructed!!

Cheers
