BACKGROUND
The Second International Conference on Traffic and Transportation Studies
(ICTTS) will be held in Beijing (China) from July 31 to August 2, 2000. The
objective of the conference is to have a forum for researchers, experts and
professionals, government officials, policy makers, and managers from
around the world to present, discuss and exchange views and experience on
recent developments in transportation. The conference will provide a
variety of opportunities to explore the key issues, innovative
technologies, current projects and future prospects for transportation
system studies. At this conference, internationally known transportation
experts and railway and highway administrators will be invited to deliver
guest keynote lectures.

Deadline for Submission of Abstracts      August 20,1999
Release of Call for Invited Papers      September 10,1999
Deadline for Submission of Draft Full Papers   January 11, 2000
Notification of Acceptance of Papers      February 1, 2000
Deadline for Submission of Final Full Papers   March 15, 2000
PROCEEDINGS
All final manuscripts received on time and accepted for presentation will
be published in the Proceedings of the conference by the American Society
of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The Proceedings will be distributed to the
participants at the beginning of the conference.
LANGUAGE 
Working Language of the Conference is English. Papers will be written in
English for inclusion in the proceedings.
TECHNICAL VISITS
The Organizer will arrange special half-day technical visits for conference
participants. The visits provide a rare opportunity for delegates to gain
insights to transportation projects and systems in Beijing.
SOCIAL PROGRAMME FOR ACCOMPANYING PERSONS
An interesting social program will be arranged for accompanying persons
during the Conference, which will include sightseeing and other activities
within Beijing.
AFTER CONFERENCE TOURS
After the conference, sightseeing/technical tours to places of interest in
China will be specially arranged for participants and their accompanying
persons. Fees for these tours are extra.
SELECTION OF PAPERS
Those who wish to present at this conference are invited to send to the
International Scientific Committee of the conference two copies of draft
full papers as well as floppy disk according to the specific deadlines. The
selection of final papers to be included in the Proceedings are based on
the following criteria; papers must be written in English and abide by ASCE
publication rules; paper should deal with transportation related topics;
the innovative features of the analysis and experience will be an important
criterion in judging the paper's quality.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Participation is open to all persons interested in traffic and
transportation studies. Those who wish to attend the conference should
complete the enclosed pre-registration form and airmail or fax it to the
Organizing Committee. Copies of the pre-registration form can be used.
