[sustran] South Africa's Transport Policy (or lack thereof)

The Mail and Guardian ran an editorial on Friday 27 February about
how little has actually been accomplished in the transport sector
since Mandela came to power and that maybe the transport minister
should be replaced. It can be seen at

http://www.mg.co.za/mg/news/98feb2/27feb-maharaj.html

Since the policy, or lack of policy, has consisted mostly of leaving
things to the market, and with a refusal to subsidize public
transportation, I would like to hear whether readers agree with
the editorial. Eric Bruun
