The United Nations Regional Roundtable on Transportation Energy Efficiency
and Sustainable Development will be held in Abu-Dhabi (United Arab
Emirates) from 1-5 February 1999. This event is a unique opportunity to
address issues from developing countries' perspective. Anybody concerned
with sustainable transportation is encouraged to contribute their
experiences to the event in order to enrich the participants' minds and
exchange knowledge with each other. 

The deadline for abstracts is 15 August, and the full paper should be
received no later than 30 September, 1998.

A number of organizations and businesses involved in sustainable
transportation will have displays. Potetial participants include Global
Change and Sustainability programme, Prescott College, AZ; City of
Curitiba, Brazil; City of  Singapore; University of Central Florida,
National Biodiesel Board, USA; Public Technology Inc., (PTI); Alternative
Fuel producers; Alternative Fuel Vehicles manufacturers; GIS/GPS & RS
vendors; Bruerly Engineering Associates, Florida; National Swedish
Transport and Road Research Institute; Transport Research Institute, UK;
Alliance to End Childhood Lead Poisoning, Washington, D.C.; University of
California, Davis; The Wellness Foundation, Canada; Pure Energy
Corporation, USA; The World Bank; and others. Space for additional displays
is still available.
