Maybe the proposed Northern Ring Road in Lima, Peru (preliminary cost
estimation US$ 300 million), is another example. The World Bank was
involved in the economic feasibility, environmental impact, and
resettlement studies for the project, but will not be involved in financing
the road (the Japanese will be the main financier). The road will connect
the Lima-Callao port area and the Lima International Airport with the
Panamericana Norte, and improve (motorized) accessibility to one of Lima's
most densely populated low income areas (San Juan de Lurigancho).
