At the recent 5th International Conference on Competition and Ownership in
Passenger Transport (Leeds) there was considerable discussion of the
relative performane of competitive tendering in London compared to
deregulation outside London. Most of the discussion at that conference
centered on trends in ridership. Questions were raised about relative
subsidy levels and concessionary fare reimbursements.

The following site has additional information, including cost per passenger,
subsidy per passenger, fare per passenger, etc. derived from Department of
Transport data.
